Why do many industries use PE plastic bottles

       PE (polyethylene) plastic bottles are widely used in many industries, which is closely related to their excellent physical and chemical properties, processing adaptability, and cost advantages. The following analyzes the reasons for its popularity from multiple dimensions:
1、 Good material performance, suitable for multiple scene requirements
1. Strong chemical stability and outstanding corrosion resistance
      PE plastic bottles have good tolerance to acid, alkali, salt solutions, and most organic solvents (such as alcohol and oil), and are not prone to chemical reactions or swelling. For example:
      In the daily chemical industry, shampoo, shower gel (containing surfactants), and detergent (containing alkaline ingredients) can be packaged;
      In the pharmaceutical industry, it is possible to package tablets, capsules, and some liquid medicines (such as oral liquids) to avoid reactions between drugs and containers.
      Good water resistance, not easily deformed or deteriorated in long-term contact with water or humid environments, suitable for packaging liquid products such as drinking water and beverages.
2. Balanced physical performance, balancing strength and toughness
       Balance between hardness and impact resistance: Low density PE (LDPE) is soft and has good toughness, suitable for making packaging that needs to be folded or squeezed (such as skincare sample bottles); High density PE (HDPE) has high hardness and strong rigidity, and can be used to hold large capacity liquids such as bottled water and oil bottles.
       Wide temperature tolerance range: The normal operating temperature is -40 ℃~+70 ℃, and it can withstand high temperatures of around 100 ℃ in the short term (such as holding hot water). It is not easily brittle in low temperature environments (such as refrigerated beverage bottles).
       Moderate barrier performance, meeting basic protection requirements
Has certain barrier properties against gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, which can delay the oxidation of contents (such as soy sauce and vinegar packaging);
Low water vapor transmission rate can prevent liquid products from evaporating or getting damp (such as cosmetics and seasonings).
2、 Convenient processing and high production efficiency
1. The injection molding/blow molding process is mature and suitable for large-scale production
      PE plastic bottles are commonly injection molded by blow molding or extrusion blow molding, with a simple process and high degree of automation. They can be quickly mass-produced (a single device can produce tens to hundreds of bottles per minute), reducing production costs.
      The mold has strong universality, and changing the mold can produce bottles of different specifications and shapes (such as round bottles, square bottles, and irregular bottles), meeting diverse packaging needs (such as beverage bottles, pesticide bottles, and reagent bottles).
2. Recyclable and reusable, in line with environmental trends
      PE belongs to thermoplastic plastics and can be processed repeatedly through melt recycling. After recycling, it can be made into recycled PE particles for the production of non food grade packaging (such as industrial bottles and garbage bags), which meets the requirements of global "plastic reduction" and "circular economy" policies (such as EU packaging recycling standards).
3、 Significant cost advantage and high cost-effectiveness
1. Rich sources of raw materials and low prices
      PE is polymerized from ethylene, which can be obtained in large quantities through the cracking of petroleum and natural gas. The raw material supply is stable and the cost is low. Compared with packaging materials such as glass and metal, the unit cost of PE plastic bottles can be reduced by 30% to 50%.
      Lightweight and low transportation cost: Under the same volume, PE bottles weigh only 1/10~1/5 of glass bottles, reducing logistics energy consumption (such as mineral water transportation).
2. Low post-processing costs
      No need to worry about breakage like glass bottles, low loss rate during transportation and storage;
      Good printing adaptability, can directly add labels through screen printing, hot stamping and other processes without the need for additional procedures (such as labeling glass bottles).
4、 Widely applicable scenarios, covering the needs of multiple industries
1. Food and beverage industry
       Packaging mineral water, fruit juice, carbonated beverages (such as PET bottles, but PE bottles are more common in soy sauce, edible oil, and other fields);
Sealed cans for snacks and dry goods (with PE bottle caps and aluminum foil gaskets to enhance sealing).
2. Daily chemical and personal care
       Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel bottles (made of LDPE material for easy squeezing);
       Cosmetic travel clothes, lotion bottles (heteromorphic design with soft materials).
3. Pharmaceuticals and health products
       Oral liquid medicine bottles and pill dispensing bottles (must comply with drug packaging material standards, such as FDA certification in the United States);
Health product capsule bottle (moisture-proof, anti-oxidation).
4. Agriculture and Chemical Industry
       Pesticide and fertilizer packaging bottles (resistant to chemical corrosion);
Industrial solvent and cleaning agent container (made of HDPE material with impact resistance).

5、 Environmental improvement promotes sustainable application
      Lightweight design reduces material consumption: By optimizing the bottle structure (such as thinning and reinforcing rib design), the amount of PE used is reduced while ensuring strength (such as reducing the weight of mineral water bottles from 20g to below 15g).
      Research and development of biodegradable PE materials: Some industries have started using bio based PE or biodegradable PE blends to reduce the risk of white pollution (such as disposable pesticide bottles).
